In a rambling editorial on Dec. 7th, 2021, the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board applauded IL Sen Dick Durbin for bringing the Senate Judiciary Committee to The Windy City on Monday. According to the Times editorial board:
“We’re glad Sen. Dick Durbin is bringing the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which he is chair, to Chicago for a hearing on Monday. Some of the committee members have made a career of promoting unrestricted gun rights. We’re thinking of those such as Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who thinks measures to reduce gun violence are “ridiculous theater” and Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., who called President Joe Biden’s nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives a “notorious gun-grabber.”
The Times board did not mention that Biden’s nominee is a paid employee of the Gifford’s gun control group and a vocal advocate for gun bans and gun confiscation. The Times continued:
“We kind of wish Supreme Court justices would come to Chicago as well, to see how their affinity for dreaming up new gun rights affects the city’s neighborhoods. The court is now considering a case that could vastly extend the right to carry guns in public.”
The board did not mention the Bill of Rights or the Second Amendment but rather blamed SCOTUS and Republicans for “dreaming up new gun rights.”
Throughout the editorial, the board blamed everyone except criminals and the 100 years of Democrat policies that have destroyed the city in their bid for more gun control.
Chicago has been controlled by Democrats for a century.
