Six people including a gunman dressed in black and armed with a shotgun have died Thursday in Plymouth, England, according to the BBC.
The victims include three females, two males and one of the dead was a child under 10.
British police say the shooting was not a terrorist act.
This is the worst mass shooting in England in more than a decade.
A witness told the BBC the shooting was, “horrendous and so sad.”
“Firstly, there was shouting, followed by gunshots – three possibly four to begin with,” she said. “This was when the shooter kicked in the door of a house and randomly started shooting. He ran from the house shooting as he ran and proceeded to shoot at a few people in the linear park up from the drive.”
She said the “shooter proceeded along Royal Navy Avenue still shooting”.
Another witness told the BBC he “walked around the corner” and “bumped into a bloke with a shotgun”. He said the shooter was dressed all in black.
The last mass shooting in England happened in 2010 when a taxi driver killed 12 people.
England has some of the most stringent gun control laws in the world. For the most part, private possession of firearms is banned or heavily regulated by the government.
